A bike code table, also known as a bicycle computer, is an essential accessory for modern cycling enthusiasts. It records real-time speed, travel mileage, riding time and other core data, helping riders quantify their riding status and optimize their exercise plans. Reasonable bike code table settings are the premise of accurate data monitoring. Many riders ignore parameter calibration, resulting in distorted statistical data and poor riding experience. Mastering standard code table setting methods can maximize the practical value of cycling equipment.

The core purpose of bike code table settings is to match the actual parameters of the bicycle and adapt to different riding scenarios. Most universal bike code tables are equipped with multiple setting modules, covering unit switching, wheel parameter calibration, time setting and function switching. Different from factory default settings which are universal and fixed, personalized manual settings can eliminate data errors caused by different wheel sizes, tire specifications and regional measurement habits, ensuring that every set of riding data is true and reliable.

Wheel circumference calibration is the most critical step in all bike code table settings and the core factor determining data accuracy. The speed and mileage data of the code table are calculated based on the number of wheel rotations and circumference. Different types of bicycles, including road bikes, mountain bikes and folding bikes, have different wheel diameters and tire thicknesses, so the circumference values vary greatly. The standard setting method is to calculate the actual wheel circumference manually: measure the distance of one full wheel rotation with a tape measure, and input the accurate millimeter value into the code table. For example, the conventional circumference of a 26-inch mountain bike is about 2070mm, and that of a 700C road bike is about 2130mm. Blindly using the default value will lead to 5% to 10% data deviation.
